Meet Casey Evans
Furniture Restoration Artist with a luxury background and a sustainability mission
Before he was rescuing forgotten furniture and giving it a second life, Casey Evans was steeped in five-star service at Neiman Marcus, where he learned that the little things—like impeccable presentation and world-class customer care—aren’t so little after all.
That early training carried through an extensive career in the home décor arena and ultimately led him to Hiatus Day Spa | Med Spa, where he spent 15 years as Co-Owner and Director of Sales & Operations. There, he led with vision, built a beloved brand, and helped thousands of people look and feel their best.
After Hiatus, Casey was ready for a new kind of makeover—one that could transform our homes and reduce waste, reframing the way society views 'second-hand', from 'used' to 'ART + TECH'!
Design Upheaval is Casey’s love letter to the well-made, the well-worn, and the wildly creative. Whether he’s repainting a cherished heirloom, reimagining castoffs into conversation pieces, or teaching others how to do it themselves, Casey is here to prove that sustainability can be sexy—and that reinvention is always in style.
When he’s not elbow-deep in paint or hosting a workshop, you’ll find Casey dreaming up big ideas to make beautiful design more circular, more inclusive, and a whole lot more fun.
Meet Hugo Galaviz
CFO with a vision for the Future
Before he was knee deep in Design Upheaval balance sheets, majority owner and CFO, Hugo Galaviz, was gaining valuable experience in the accounting industry, working for world-class companies as Accounting and Finance Manager.
Hugo firmly stands behind the vision created at Design Upheaval, and feels confidently that we can change the perception of 'used' as inferior, one ART + TECH piece at a time.
When not busy with bean counting, you will find Hugo experiencing the very best that DFW has to offer, always wanting to see new sights and experience new things!
Meet Roxy
Office Manager | Head of Security
A visit to Design Upheaval is never a quiet experience. Our Head of Security is always on duty, ensuring everyone knows she doesn't allow any trouble!
The reality is that all that barking really translates to " play with ME!"
When there are no clients around, Roxy resumes her role as Office Manager, micro-managing comfortably from the sofa.
How we got started
At age 9, I asked my dad for a subscription to Architectural Digest. That’s one of my earliest memories of discovering a deep love for residential design, architecture, and everything that shapes how we live in our homes.
As for my environmental awareness, my early days at AVEDA cemented my beliefs that we can make the world a better place with minimal effort.
An early subscriber in clean energy, we were using and promoting Green Mountain Energy, sharing the benefits with each guest.

I’ve lived through the “more is more” era of the ’90s, working with antiques from around the world, and into the clean, minimal spaces that followed, where Mid-Century Modern classics took center stage.
My signature look? Capturing your signature look. I believe the best interiors tell your story—reflecting who you are, not who I am.
